THIS™ is a Smash Burger

THIS™ is a Smash Burger

1. In a bowl, stir together mustard, ketchup and mayo until it becomes that burger sauce we all love. Finely chop the shallots and throw them in, followed by just enough Tabasco to tickle your tongue a little. Mix until smooth and slightly unhinged.

2. Shred your lettuce. Slice your large tomato. Slice your gherkins (into coins or strips… whatever tickles your pickle) and place to one side.

3. Throw your THIS Isn’t Beef Burgers into a frying pan along with a teaspoon of vegetable oil for 11-12 minutes.

4. Also, fry off your THIS Isn’t Bacon Rashers with a teaspoon of vegetable oil for 8-10 minutes.

5. Using a clean and bowl, squish your THIS Isn’t Beef Burgers into the pan until they are about 1.5cm thick. Slap the bacon on top of the burgers and add a lid of plant-based cheese before allowing to melt whilst the sides of your burger get crispy for 1 minute. Finally, remove your smash burgers from the pan and leave to one side.

6. Toast your buns for 1 minute in the same pan, allowing them to absorb all of that goodness. Once they’re nice and brown, move to your serving plate (or chopping board if you want to feel like a real chef) and put a large dollop of that burger sauce on the bottom bun. Throw one of your cheesy bacon topped smash burgers on top (double up if you’d prefer this recipe to only serve 2 legends), finish off with lettuce, a slice of tomato, a very healthy amount of pickles (if you skip the pickles we will judge) and another dollop of burger sauce, before laying that final bun on the top.

7. Serve and eat immediately.

Crispy edged, juicy centred, unapologetically messy. This is not a polite burger, it is a full blown smash situation. Sizzled hard, stacked with smoky bacon vibes, molten plant based cheese, and drowned in that classic, slightly unhinged sauce. Add crunch from lettuce and a bun soaked in all the good stuff from the pan. Fast, filthy, and absolutely legendary. Meat free, plant-based, maximum flavour.
